Blogging – From Strength to Strength
Blogging can be relatively inexpensive and can be a really fun thing to do. It’s a great way to meet new people and it won’t break the bank (which, as you know, is so important here at Frugal and Fun!)
Early Days of Blogging
Back in the late 90’s, when the term ‘blog’ was first coined, many of the people setting up blogs were people with ‘tech know how’. Blogs were often created as a hobby, for people who were passionate about something and had something to say and wanted their voice heard. There was no expectation of making a living from blogging.
With the advent of social media, blogging had a meteoric rise. For most of us growing up, the word “blogger” didn’t even exist let alone being an actual career path. Then it seemed like “Influencers” were born overnight. Ordinary people were all of sudden earning a certain level of fame.
Social media has had a massive impact on almost every facet of our society. It’s changed the way we interact with one another, created careers that never existed before, changed the way products are advertised and sold, etc.
Over the years it has become easier to set up blogs and it is easier than ever to set up a blog nowadays. Now there are 1000’s of YouTube tutorials that talk you through the whole process step by step.
Leap of Faith
We lead very busy lives. So we are always rushing from one task to another. How many times do you hear people complaining about not having enough time to concentrate on the things they enjoy doing? The pandemic caused the whole world to slow down. We spent more time at home, there were less distractions from the outside world.
All of a sudden people found they had time on their hands. Time to go out for a walk, time to read, time to bake, time to sit and talk. New hobbies were embraced, and many took the leap to start a blog.
For some of us, especially those living alone, a whole day could pass with no contact with another person. Social media became a lifeline for many.
Blogging continues to go from strength to strength.
There are blogs dedicated to just about every subject under the sun, from travel, parenting, lifestyle, etc. to the more niche like coin collecting, fan fiction, home education, etc.
By blogging and creating posts for social media these bloggers are building trust with their followers
All of us have the ability to be an “influencer”
Stop Procrastinating
“The blogging industry is already saturated”. “Who’d be interested in what I have to say anyway?”. One thing’s for certain, it seems like there is always space for new blogs. If you’ve been putting off the idea of starting your own blog, then why not give it a go? It’s truly never been easier. There’s a great community bloggers out there willing to help each other out and whole host of information at your finger tips. You’re sure to find someone likeminded. Social media is great way to advertise your blog and get yourself out to potential new followers.
I’d love to hear your story. Have you been thinking of starting a blog or have you actually started one? If you could blog about any subject what would it be? Leave a comment or get in contact through our contact page.
