Here are 3 fun activities you can do online for free.
Virtual Tours
During the pandemic, many museums and places of interest were forced to close to the public. It made us find new ways of appreciating these sites and one way was by virtual tour.
And the best bit is you’re not just confined to “visit” the sites that are near to home. Of course, visiting a place in real life is the preferred option for all of us. Viewing a photo of a beautiful sunset is nothing compared to seeing it first-hand. However, there are so many places across the world that we’d like to visit but in reality, we’ll only ever dream of. This could be because of finances, family or work commitments, practical considerations, etc.
Visiting the world-famous Louvre to see the enigmatic smile of the Mona Lisa, is on many of our “Things I’d Like to do Before I Die” lists. For those of us that have been fortunate enough to see it first-hand, the reality of it, isn’t quite the same as the dream. Like so many tourist attractions there’s queuing, crowds and noise to contend with.
The beauty of a virtual tour is that you can navigate round the site without being hindered with crowds. You can spend as long as you like viewing things, retracing your steps and looking at things from different viewpoints.

Online Games
When you want to switch off and wind down, what better way to do it than to play an online game? Scroll through the app store and you’ll see that there are many online games that you need to pay for but there are some great games that you can play for free!
One such site is Solitaire.org. As you can probably guess from the name, there’s a great selection of solitaire games.
But don’t let the name fool you, there’s a wide selection of other games too – card games, hidden objects, matching games etc. My kids love playing the search for hidden objects game, The Palace Hotel. It’s a bit like Where’s Wally? but in a hotel setting with a list of items you need to find.
One game I really enjoy playing is Thirty One. You’re up against 3 other payers. Each player is dealt 3 cards, they have the option to swap all three cards for the dealers hand or swap out one card. The object of the game is to get as close to 31 with the same suit of cards as possible. There are slight variations, depending on whether you chose to play the US, UK, French, German, etc. version.
Learn a New Skill
The internet is a treasure trove of information. Anything that pops into your head you’ll be able to search for online.
One of the great things about the internet is that as well as being used for fun, it can also be used to teach you things. During the pandemic, how many of us decided to make use of all this newfound time on our hands, by learning something new or taking up a new hobby?
Many of us became novice bakers, gardeners, DIYers, etc. We had the internet at the touch of a button filled with invaluable information to get us started. There are millions of blogs and videos showing us step by step what we need to do. Here are great sites that teach you how to:
With all of this available at the touch of a button, we have no excuse to be bored again! Id love to hear if you have any sites that you recommend.
